My name is Sylvie Beauvais. I live in Philadelphia. At first I thought this blog would cover the act, process, joys and mixed feelings of writing. It’s also turned into a life blog: about my time in graduate school for an MSW, travel writing, and random thoughts about major holidays and minor life events. I have a separate site for my life as a psychotherapist.
A bit more about me. I’m working on a collection of fairy tale stories, trying to create alternate visions of well-known tales. I received my Master of Liberal Arts, with a concentration in Creative Writing, from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004. My novella, Fly, Rapunzel was a finalist in Low Fidelity Press’s 2006 Novella Award Contest judged by Aimee Bender. FRiGG Magazine published my retelling of Sleeping Beauty, Rosamonde Wakes. A radical rewrite of Red Riding Hood, “The Woods,” was published online in Quail Bell Magazine. One of my humorous non-fiction pieces, “The Baby”, was published in Philadelphia Stories. “Invoking the I” was published in Forge Journal in July 2012. I also blogged about the process of writing a memoir: http://invokingthei.tumblr.com/.
I was also an editor for and blogging about entrepreneurship for Wharton previously.
